Episode Fashion Tracker: Why We Decode Every Outfit on Your Favourite Show
The Search That Happens Every Night
Every evening across India, millions of people sit down in front of a screen and watch a story unfold. And somewhere between the plot twists and the family drama, they notice the clothes.

Not in a fashion-magazine kind of way. More like a practical curiosity. That saree looks good. Where’s it from? How much would something like that cost? Could I pull off that colour?
Google gets flooded with searches like “actress name saree episode 412” or “blue kurta set from last night’s episode.” These aren’t idle searches. People want answers. And almost nobody gives them.
That’s the gap we’re trying to close.
How the Episode Fashion Tracker Works
Here’s what we do, and honestly it’s pretty straightforward. For selected shows across TV and OTT, our team watches episodes, identifies key outfits, and then does the research. Brand, approximate price, where to buy, available alternatives.
Each tracked look gets a mini-profile. Think of it like a cast list, but for the clothes. What the character wore, what scene it appeared in, and where viewers can find something similar.
We don’t claim every identification is exact. Costume departments sometimes source from local markets or commission pieces that aren’t available retail. When that’s the case, we say so and suggest the closest match we could find.
No guesswork sold as certainty. That matters to us.

Why TV Fashion Is Different from Runway Fashion
I think this is probably the most misunderstood thing about fashion media in India. Runway coverage is great. Magazine editorials are beautiful. But they don’t connect to how most people actually discover and adopt style.
Most Indians encounter fashion through TV. Through serials they watch daily, through reality shows they binge on weekends, through OTT series they finish in two nights. The outfits they see there feel closer, more achievable, more relevant to their own lives.
A Manish Malhotra lehenga at Lakme Fashion Week is aspirational. A well-styled kurta set on a serial actress is actionable. That’s a big difference.
And it’s a difference most fashion publications completely ignore.
Costume Designers Deserve More Credit
Something we’ll be covering more in future issues: the costume designers behind these shows. They work with tight budgets, fast turnarounds, and characters who need to look consistent across hundreds of episodes.
It’s honestly kind of incredible how much thought goes into it. A character’s economic background, their emotional arc, their regional identity. All of that gets translated into clothing choices that most viewers absorb subconsciously.
We want to make that process visible. Because understanding how a costume was chosen helps you understand how to adapt it for yourself.

What You’ll Find in Our Tracker
Each episode tracker includes the show name, episode number, character, outfit description, brand or source (when identifiable), estimated price range, and at least one affordable alternative.
We update weekly for ongoing shows and do full-series breakdowns for OTT releases.
It’s not glamour journalism. It’s practical reporting. And from what I can tell, people have been waiting for exactly this.
